Stopping electricity leakage is our major challenge: Minister Bhusal

August 17, Kathmandu: The Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal has pointed out challenges in stopping electricity leakage.
Addressing an event on Wednesday organized in Kathmandu on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Minister Bhusal said there was a need to implement international standards related to electricity and carry out reforms in the power distribution structure to curb power leakage
Stating the country got around Rs 2 billion in income from the control of power leakage alone in the previous fiscal year, Minister Bhusal said there was a need to increase electricity consumption for the overall development of the country.
On the occasion, NEA’s chief executive officer Kulman Ghising shared that so far around 95 per cent population of the country had access to electricity.
