Minister Khadka and Chinese Minister Wang hold bilateral talks; China to provide ¥800 million to Nepal

August 11, Kathmandu: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Narayan Khadka, who is on a three-day official visit to China, on Wednesday met with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the bilateral meeting between the two Foreign Affairs Ministers was held in the Chinese city of Qingdao.
The Nepali Embassy in Beijing said in a statement that the two sides – after reviewing the overall aspects of Nepal-China relations and cooperation – agreed to further promote cooperation in various fields including trade connectivity, investment, health, tourism, poverty alleviation, agriculture, disaster management, education, culture, among others.
During the meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang announced that 800 million Chinese Yuan will be provided to Nepal this year.
The Chinese side also said that it will conduct the feasibility study of the Kerung-Kathmandu Railway at its own investment.
Both the Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on continuous cooperation in various regional and multilateral forums on issues of mutual interest.
Minister Khadka had left for China on Tuesday leading an 11-member Nepali delegation at the invitation of Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Minister Khadka and his delegation will return home on Thursday.
