Pelosi’s Taiwan visit harmful to region’s stability: Chinese Foreign Ministry

August 3, Kathmandu: China has condemned the US Speaker of the House of Representative Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, saying that the visit is harmful to the stability of the region.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry summoned the US ambassador to China and said that China would not remain idle.

Meanwhile, Speaker Pelosi met with Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-Wen on Wednesday morning, the BBC reported quoting the Central News Agency. 

Speaker Pelosi, who arrived in Taiwan’s capital Taipei on Tuesday night on a US Air Force ship, said that the people of Taiwan needed American solidarity.

Tweeting shortly after arriving in Taipei, Pelosi said that her delegation’s visit to Taiwan was in line with the US commitment to support Taiwan’s dynamic democracy.
