Ukraine calls on UN and Red Cross to investigate the attack that killed more than 50 Ukrainian PoWs

July 30, Kathmandu: Ukraine has called on the United Nations and the Red Cross to investigate the rocket strike in the Russian-held Donetsk region that killed more than 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war (PoWs). 

After the incident, the International Red Cross said that it is seeking permission to reach the prison, where the attack took place, to treat and transfer the injured. 

Russia and Ukraine are blaming each other for the attack. 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attack on Ukrainian prisoners of war was a well-planned and deliberate Russian war crime. 

Russia has alleged that the incident was caused by a Ukrainian rocket strike.
