Election Commission to dispatch ballot papers to all districts by Friday
Kathmandu: The Election Commission has said ballot papers required for the local level election will be delivered to all districts by Friday.
Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Thursday, Commission’s Spokesperson Saligram Sharma Paudel informed that necessary ballot papers had been printed and would be delivered to all 77 districts by Friday.
He added that the delivery of the ballot papers except for the districts in Madhesh province had already been completed, and it would be delivered to the remaining districts on Friday.
The Election Commission Spokesperson further stated that the Commission asked for clarification from 37 individuals and political parties who were found defying the election code of conduct.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has written to the Government of Nepal to close all the international border crossings for 48 hours before the polling day.
The border transit points are to remain shut until the polling is completed so as to conduct the local level election in a free, fair, safe, and fearless environment.
A meeting of the EC office-bearers today decided to send a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs to close the international border points from midnight on May 10.
