Efforts to equip government facilities with IT: Secretary Aryal

Kathmandu: Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Baikuntha Aryal, has informed that the ministry had begun adopting a digital system in 90 per cent of office works.

Releasing the magazine ‘Prabidhi’ published by Technology Journalists’ Forum here Monday, Secretary Aryal said the government facilities would be brought to the IT system in order to ensure prompt and reliable public service delivery. The Secretary further said the government would develop and expand IT with the cooperation and collaboration of the private sectors.

According to him, if the entire business system goes digital, it would bring change to the entire production and supply system.

On the occasion, the Chairperson of Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), Purushottam Khanal, said although the internet and telephone facilities were the luxury items, these have now turned into the most essential things. NTA was established to regulate broader issues of IT, he added.
