Nepal-India border to remain closed 72 hours before election

April 20, Kathmandu: A joint meeting of security officials of Nepal and India has decided to close down border points 72 hours before the upcoming local elections.

The joint meeting of the security officials of both the countries held at Madhubani district-based Jayanagar in India on Tuesday took the decision to this effect.

Chief District Officer of Dhanusha Surendra Poudel shared that a decision was made to close down border checkpoints 72 hours before the local election taking into consideration the possible security threats due to open borders.
