Karnali Chief Minister and European Ambassadors discuss issues of Karnali region (audio report)

March 23, Surkhet: The Chief Minister of Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi and the Ambassadors of the countries in the European Union on Wednesday held talks on issues facing the people of the Karnali province.
At a meeting held at the Office of Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Surkhet, the European Ambassadors informed the Chief Minister about the activities their missions had been carrying out in the sector of climate change, drinking water, irrigation, and renewal energy in Karnali Province.
The delegation led by Ambassador and Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal, Nona Deprez, inquired about the condition of the province, especially initiatives taken for tourism promotion, infrastructure development, road access, and implementation of federalism.
In reply, Chief Minister Shahi said that the support of the European countries in Karnali was pivotal, adding that the Karnali province government has forwarded road, electricity, and forest management for the development and prosperity of Karnali.
Chief Minister Shahi stressed that federalism was imperative for the areas like Karnali.
The European Ambassadors suggested the Karnali province’s government to pay special attention to infrastructure development and road access, saying that Karnali had great tourism potential.
The Ambassador of Germany to Nepal, Dr Thomas Prinz, the French Ambassador to Nepal, Gilles Bourbao and the Ambassador of Finland to Nepal, Pertti Anttinen, were part of the European delegation.
