Role of people’s representative is important to disseminate health-related information to public: NA Chair Timilsina

Kathmandu: National Assembly Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has said that the role of the people’s representative would be important to disseminate accurate information about health to the people.
Speaking at the inaugural session of a day-long interaction program on “Risk communication and community engagement and COVID-19 vaccination” held in Kathmandu today.
At an interaction program organized by the Ministry of Health and Population, coordinated by the Federal Parliament, and technically supported by the World Health Organization, Chair Timilsina urged the people’s representatives and politicians to keep updated on various variants of COVID-19 infection and urge people to get vaccinated.
Chair Timilasina further added that it was the responsibility of the people’s representatives to educate their constituents and the public about the risks of COVID-19 and the role of individuals in controlling COVID-19.
Likewise, WHO Representative to Nepal, Dr Pandav lauded the role played by the people’s representatives of Nepal in spreading awareness among the people about how to be safe from the epidemic caused by epidemics like corona and the need for COVID-19 vaccination.
Similarly, Speaking on the occasion, Secretary of the Ministry of Health Dr Roshan Pokharel requested the lawmakers to spread public awareness as the people’s representatives would be exemplary for the people.

At the program, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Vice President Shashikala Dahal, National Assembly members, Secretary-General of the Federal Parliament Dr Bharatraj Gautam, Nepal Head of the World Health Organization Dr Pandav, National Assembly Secretary Rajendra Phuyal, Secretary of the Ministry of Health Dr Pokhrel.
The program was technically moderated by Dr Sunoor Verma, Dr Allison Gocotano, Dr Vinod Bura, Dr Gampo Dorjee and Kedar Marathha from WHO and Shila Shrestha and Dr Bibek Kumar Lal from the Health Ministry.
