SC orders to register writ filed against announcement of local level elections date

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has ordered to register a writ filed against the announcement of local level elections date.

A single bench of Supreme Court Justice Iswor Khatiwada held on Wednesday issued the order scrapping the court’s earlier verdict of annulling the case filed against the election date. 

The Supreme Court ordered the concerned sides to register the writ saying an interpretation was necessary on the constitutional and legal provisions for the tenure of the local level representatives.

Bhangaha Municipality Mayor in Mahottari Sanjib Kumar Shah had filed a writ in the Supreme Court claiming that the local level representatives would not complete their tenure if the local level elections were held on May 13.

However, the Supreme Court had annulled the writ last week.
