Germany provides over 4.1 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to Nepal

December 16, Kathmandu: The German government has handed over 4.1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal.
Chargé d’ Affaires of the German Embassy Dr Stephan Russek handed the shipment of vaccines to Minister for Health and Population Birodh Khatiwada amidst a programme at the Ministry on Thursday.
Nepal received 2 million 176 thousand 650 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and 1 million 965 thousand 600 doses of Moderna vaccine under the COVAX facility.
On the occasion, the Health Minister said the vaccines provided by Germany would be a support in meeting the government target of vaccinating the people against COVID-19.
On the occasion, the German Chargé d’ Affaires said the vaccine assistance would help protect Nepali people from COVID-19.
Spokesperson of the Ministry, Dr Sangeeta Kaushal Mishra said the Moderna vaccines would be given to children of the 12 to 17 years age group from 19th to 27th of December.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccines would be given to those people going abroad and to other target populations.
