Govt. should prioritize handicrafts: VP Pun

December 15, Kathmandu: Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has urged one and all to use and promote local handicrafts.
At a program organized on Tuesday, on the 50th anniversary of the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal and 10th Handicraft Day, Vice-President Pun said that the government should accord high priority on handicrafts.
Vice President Pun reiterated that the government should accord the highest priority to handicrafts that had been successful in maintaining Nepal’s identity in the international area.
The VP also appealed to all the government agencies to use domestic handicrafts.
He asserted that the export of handicrafts had been playing an important role in reducing the trade deficit.
Similarly, Federation’s President Surendra Bhai Shakya viewed that cooperation and collaboration were needed from all three governments to revitalize the handicraft sector that was hit hard following the outbreak and spread of COVID-19.
