Health Ministry appeals to all not to travel abroad until absolutely necessary citing threat of Omicron variant

Kathmandu: Ministry of Health and Population has appealed to all not to travel abroad until absolutely necessary.

The appeal was made in the wake of the identification and spread of the ‘Omicron’ variant of COVID-19. Although the ‘Omicron’ variant has not been detected in Nepal yet, the Ministry urged all Nepalis to observe precautions against COVID-19.

Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, Joint Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari said the new variant was very contagious and it would infect people of any age group.

The Ministry has also urged all to get vaccinated against Covid-19 at the nearby vaccination centres.
