Unequal airfares for foreigners and Nepalis in domestic flights should be revised: Israeli Ambassador Goder

November 16, Kathmandu: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale on Monday held a meeting with Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Hanan Goder.

The meeting focused on bolstering the bilateral relations and cooperation and collaboration between the two countries, according to the Tourism Ministry.

During the meeting held at the Tourism Ministry, Ambassador Goder said that the Israeli government would take the initiative for operating direct flights between Israel and Kathmandu.

Ambassador Goder also informed that the Israeli government was willing to operate direct flights between Israel and Bhairahawa. 

Ambassador Goder informed Minister Ale that at least one thousand Nepali workers would be flown to Israel within the next two weeks and that the Israeli Embassy wished it could be done via Nepal Airlines Corporation’s plane.

Similarly, Ambassador Goder expressed dissatisfaction with the issue of unequal airfares for foreigners and Nepalis in Nepal’s domestic flights.

During the meeting, Ambassador Goder also invited Minister Ale to be the chief guest at a 50-minute Israeli film screening program via a “Drive-In” format, which is the first of its kind in Nepal.

In reply, Minister Ale said that they were ready for a direct air link between Nepal and Israel.

Minister Ale assured Ambassador Goder that he would take initiative to reduce the unequal airfares of foreigners and Nepalis in Nepal’s domestic flights.

Minister Ale thanked Israel for its assistance in various fields of Nepal and expressed confidence that the assistance would continue in the days to come.

Minister Ale urged Ambassador Goder to mobilize investors for the construction of the second international airport being constructed by the Government of Nepal in Nijgadh.
