Party president does not have any hand in national convention: PM Deuba

Bhaktapur: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has clarified that he, as the party president, did not have any role and influence in whether to hold a national convention on time or later.
At a greetings exchange programme organized by NC, Bhaktapur in Bhaktapur today, Deuba said that although he wanted to hold the much-awaited 14th national convention on time, his wish alone would not do any wonder.
The PM reiterated, “I also want that the national convention is held on time but the party president has nothing at his hand. It is up to the election committee that determines the date of the convention.”
The 14th national convention has been rescheduled for December 10 to 12 this year.
Urging one and all in the party, Deuba appealed not to go by heresy regarding the national convention. “Don’t believe in heresy. The national convention will be held on time. To elect your leaders unanimously from the local level. If failed to elect unanimously, go for healthy competition.”
According to him, victory or defeat in the election under the national convention was a process and it should not be viewed with enmity. On a different note, the PM urged all the Nepalis to get the third dose of vaccine (booster dose) against COVID-19.
“The booster dose is needed since the vaccinated ones were found contracting Coronavirus infection. I have been vaccinated twice. The third dose is due,” he said.
On the occasion, he assured the martyr Gopal Jha’s family to provide the facilities to be provided by the State to the martyrs and their families.
Present in the programme were Bagmati Province’s Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Krishna Lal Bhandel, NC Bhaktapur President Durlav Thapa among others who univocally called for unity in the party for protecting democracy in the country.
