Poverty eradication must for socialism: Minister Bhusal

September 20, Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal has said that it is necessary to liberate the people from the vicious circle of poverty to advance towards the goal of socialism.

Stating that the Constitution has enforced the policy of achieving economic prosperity through the combined efforts among the government, private and cooperative sectors, Minister Bhusal said the policy of distributing the socio-economic development of the country on the basis of justice would to socialism.

Speaking at an inaugural session of the eighth annual general assembly and the second convention of the Nepal Pole Association on Sunday, Minister Bhusal said that the State would not undermine the role of the private sector at any point.

The Energy Minister said the decision of providing free electricity to those households consuming up to 20 units indicated the government’s sense of responsibility towards the public.

Minister Bhusal said, the farmers would not be charged for the electricity they use for operating shallow tube wells and subsidy up to 80 per cent has been guaranteed for the users of deep tube wells.

Similarly, electricity tariff for household purposes has been gradually deducted.
