More schools reopen in Baitadi as COVID-19 cases dwindle significantly

Baitadi: Schools in four local levels in the Baitadi district that share borders with India have begun running physical classes from Sunday by adhering to the health safety protocols against COVID-19.
Schools at Melauli Municipality, Purchadi Municipality, Dilashaini Rural Municipality and Surnaya Rural Municipality have reopened the schools that were shut down for a long.
The district which records 18 COVID-19 fatalities so far now has 19 active cases.
At some local levels, there were not any cases of COVID-19, according to Surnaya Rural Municipality Chairperson Bir Bahadur Bista.
Bista shared that physical distancing was maintained between the seats for students in the classrooms and the students, teachers and school staffers have to wash hands with soap and use sanitisers to minimize the risk of the deadly infection.
Given the decreasing cases of COVID-19 in the district, schools in Dasarathchand Municipality, Patan Municipality, Shivanath Rural Municipality, Pancheshwor Rural Municipality and Sigaas Rural Municipality have already begun conducting teaching-learning activities physically.
Similarly, classes will be run in the physical presence of teachers and students at Dogadakedar Rural Municipality from September 15, added Bista.
Parents and teachers were worried about the study of children while the schools remained closed in the second wave of COVID-19. Although some schools had resorted to an alternative method of teachings that were not as effective as the teaching in the physical presence of the students and schools.
