Accused of en masse killing in Sankhuwasabha arrested

Kimathanka: Police have arrested the prime suspect involved in the en masse killing of a family at Umling Khola Village of Madi Rural Municipality in Sankhuwasabha district.

Police held Lok Bahadur Karki, 28, on Saturday on suspicion of his involvement in killing six people from the same family. According to Laldhwaj Subedi, DSP at District Police Office, Chainpur, the arrested one will be made public in a press conference at Chainpur on Sunday.

The press conference will be attended by DIG and Chief of Nepal Police in Province-1 Arun Kumar BC, Federal Police Unit, Office in Dharan SP Bhim Dahal and Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) team of DSP Rugam Kunwar, said DSP Subedi.

Tej Bahadur Karki, 52, his mother Parbati Karki, 84, his spouse Kamala Karki, 52, his daughter-in-law Ranjana Karki, 32, his grandson 11-year-old Dipen Karki and granddaughter 7-year-old Goma Karki were found dead last Monday.

Police had seized a hammer and clothes drenched in blood nearby the house where the incident had taken place. Accused Lok Bahadur admitted to the police that he only wanted to kill Tej Bahadur but his families also came along and he had to kill them one after another, according to police.

The reason behind the en mass killing is found out to be vengeance and the accused was taking an anti-depressant for some time, police added.

Police, in course of an investigation, had found cash over Rs 400,000 and some gold jewellery as it is in the house of the deceased ones.
