Nepal Police distributes 1.1 million facemasks

Kathmandu: The Nepal Police has provided 1.1 million facemasks for free to the citizens travelling without using masks amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spokesperson of Nepal Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar said the number of facemasks was distributed after the beginning of the second wave of the coronavirus infection. The campaign was initiated in all 77 districts across the country, it is said.

Likewise, help desks were established in the Kathmandu Valley and awareness-raising campaigns were conducted along with the facemasks distribution.

The Nepal Police initiated the campaign in its attempt to prevent and control COVID-19 infection and for risk reduction.

Spokesperson Kunwar said that the campaign developed the urgency for the use of facemasks.

During the time, Nepal Police conducted a campaign called ‘Where is your mask?’ It is said that the Nepal Police distributed masks for free to a total of 2,586 individuals on Saturday itself.
