Technology imperative for self-reliant agriculture: PM Deuba

August 28, Kathmandu: Prime Minister and Vice-Chancellor of the Agriculture and Forestry University, Sher Bahadur Deuba, has said development and adoption of technology are essential to ensure self-reliant agriculture and livestock products.
During the ninth annual general meeting of the university here Friday, PM Deuba viewed such issues could be related to ecosystem and sustainable development.
The policymakers in the university which is based on research help to produce able human resources, he believed.
Moreover, PM and Chancellor Deuba wished the University became able to reach modern agriculture and forestry to the farmers and forest users via its students. Agriculture, its education and publicity should go side by side, he added.
There are seven colleges in different provinces under the agriculture faculty and a college under the forestry faculty. A graduate programme on agriculture has been introduced in Dailekh of Karnali Province from this year.
