Free electricity for poor families: Minister Bhusal

August 12, Kathmandu Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal has said that households consuming up to 20 units of electricity will not be charged.
Addressing a press briefing at the Ministry on Wednesday, Minister Bhusal said the decision of the Nepal Electricity Authority to provide free electricity to poor families would be brought into effect soon.

She informed that the government had forwarded the plan to replace gas stoves with clean energy stoves with the slogan of ‘Quit foreign gas and use domestic electricity’.
“The government has aimed at fully electrifying all the districts in the country within two years,” Bhusal said.
Similarly, the Ennergy minister informed that the government has forwarded the programme of setting up solar energy plants in Province 2 and constructing reservoir and semi-reservoir based hydropower projects under the Nepal Electricity Authority in all other provinces.
