Petition filed against dissolution of Commission to Resolve Land Related Problems

Kathmandu: A writ petition against the dissolution of the Commission to Resolve Land Related Problems by the government has been filed in the Supreme Court. The petition registered by advocate Prabesh KC demand that the government decided to dissolve the Commission be revoked.


The Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister and the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation are named as the defendants in the petition. “The decision of the Cabinet, the Government of Nepal to scrap the Commission as per Article 133 (2) and (4) of the Constitution of Nepal should be annulled through a certiorari order and it is asked to issue a mandamus order asking for the Commission to function as per laws,” reads the petition.


The KP Sharma Oli government had formed the Commission on 14 April 2020 intending to manage the accommodation of Dalits and landless squatters.
