Melamchi flood sweeps away 20 more houses

August 2, Melamchi: Twenty houses and huts in Helambu and Melamchi of Sindhupalchowk have been washed away by the swollen Melamchi River.

Sindhupalchok Police said the incessant rain for some days triggered the flood on Sunday night and washed away nine cemented houses and other structures.

The floods have also washed away a suspension bridge at Gyalthum keeping the Gyalthum bazaar at risk.  

Moreover, all the bridges over the river above Melamchi bazaar have been damaged by the floods cutting all access to Helambu.

Earlier, Melamchi bazaar was devastated by the flood on the 15 of June.
