Eight police personnel injured in a clash with locals; curfew imposed in Chitwan

July 7, Chitwan: At least eight police personnel were injured in a clash with locals over the suspected murder incident of Sujita Bhandari.

Following the incident, the Chitwan District Administration Office(DAO) has imposed a curfew order to take the situation under control.

The curfew order came into effect from 7.30 pm Tuesday to 7.30 pm Wednesday.

The curfew was clamped after irate people were likely to obstruct the highway, dismantle private and public property and infrastructure and jeopardize public law and order flaring up the issue of Bhandari’s death.

Chitwan Police Chief Om Adhikari said four APF personnel including DSP and four of Nepal police sustained injuries in the clash.

Sujita, 23, of Rapti municipality-3 who remained out of contact since last June 25 was found dead in the Brahmasthani community forest – some four kilometres away from her residence on Sunday evening.

The dead body has been taken to Kathmandu for a post-mortem. Meanwhile, Police have stepped up the investigation into the incident.
