House Speaker holds discussion with experts on disaster risk reduction

June 23, Kathmandu: Speaker of House of Representatives (HoR) Agni Prasad Sapkota has held talks with the officials of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority on ways to reduce the risk of natural disasters.

Speaker Sapkota held a meeting with the top leadership of the Authority and experts on Tuesday, regarding the loss incurred by flood, landslide and inundation as well as the ways to combating such disasters.

During the meeting held at the Speaker’s office in Singha Durbar, Authority’s CEO Anil Pokhrel and other members informed the Speaker about the humanitarian loss and physical damages caused due to the recent monsoon flooding in Sindhupalchowk, Manang, Chitwan and other districts of the country.

The officials also informed Speaker about the ongoing efforts taken to combat the effects of disasters.

On the occasion, Speaker Sapkota urged to immediately address the problems faced by the disaster-hit areas by making immediate, short-term and long-term plans .
