Africa facing Third wave of Covid-19 infection

June 22, South Africa: The third phase of Covid-19 has started in some African countries, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

 Meanwhile, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has said that corona infections are on the rise in Africa due to the lack of vaccines. 

President Ramaphosa said only two percent of Africa’s total population had been vaccinated. 

 WHO says vaccination campaigns have been halted due to a lack of vaccines in many of the least developed countries that have been vaccinated against coronavirus under Covax. 

Senior Advisor at WHO Dr. Bruce Aylward said that though 90 million doses of vaccines had been provided to 131 countries under the Covax program, it was not enough to stem the global spread of the corona virus.
