Naftali Bennett elected as Israel’s new Prime Minister

June 14, Jerusalem: Right-wing nationalist leader Naftali Bennett has been elected as the new Prime Minister of Israel, ending the 12-year premiership of Benjamin Netanyahu

Bennett, who will be the prime minister of the country till September 2023, after defeating Netanyahu by a narrow margin (60-59 vote) in an election held at the Israeli parliament Knesset. As per the political agreement, Bennet will hand over the post to the Yesh Atid party’s leader Yair Lapid.

The heads of government of various countries, including the US president, have sent their congratulatory message to the newly elected Israeli prime minister.
