Government withdraws cases against 120 accused of Madhesh movement

April 28, Kathmandu: The government has withdrawn the cases of 120 accused in 15 cases related to the Terai-Madhesh movement.

Making the latest cabinet decisions public on Wednesday, Minister for Communication and Information Technology and government Spokesperson, Parbat Gurung said the government had started withdrawing the cases related to the Tarai-Madesh movement and the Netra Bikram Chand led Nepal Communist Party.

Likewise, the cabinet meeting has decided to carry out necessary monitoring and control over the movements of public and private vehicles, supplies of goods in markets and operations of all kinds of services.

The meeting has also delegated the right of containment and treatment of covid-19 to the concerned Chef District Officers.

Minister Gurung further said the right to imposed curfew or prohibitory order in the districts in Terai and the Kathmandu Valley if they had more than 500 active cases and in the hilly districts if they had more than 200 active cases. However the mobility via land from only the immediate neighboring countries have not been prohibited.

Those who would like to enter Nepal should produce a PCR negative report not prior to 72 hours. They also need to furnish a document of staying a 10-day hotel quarantine.

The government has also decided to opt virtual mode of teaching learning stopping physical classes in all educational institutions.

Expect the offices delivering highly essential services, the government urged the office chiefs to keep office operational by deputing 50% of employee in shift basis.

The cabinet has delegated the work of the managing oxygen to the Ministry of Health and Population. The government has also decided to waiver taxes in import of oxygen cylinders and bring all oxygen plants into operation.

Likewise, the government has asked the Nepali Army to set up holding centers in Kathmandu and check points along Nepal-India border. The new holding centers would accommodate at least one thousand individuals.

Similarly, the cabinet has delegated the right to sing the 13.8 million Euro grant agreement with Germany to the Ministry of Finance. The grant would be spent for the expansion of maternity health services and sustainable fiscal development.
