Prince Philip passes away at Windsor Castle

April 9, London: The Duke of Edinburgh  and British Queen Elizabeth II’s husband Prince Philip has died at the age of 99 on Friday.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed the demise of Prince Philip. A statement released by the Palace said he passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

He had spent four weeks in hospital earlier this year to receive treatment for an infection and had a heart procedure, but returned to Windsor in early March.

The prince had married Princess Elizabeth in 1947, five years before she became Queen.

He had been by the queen’s side throughout her 69-year reign, the longest in British history.
