Bird flu detected in Nakkhu: Over 1,500 birds destroyed

March 30, Kathmandu: Bird flu has been detected in the poultry in Nakkhu of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-14 in the Lalitpur district.
According to the Information Officer at the Department of Livestock Services Dr. Chandra Dhakal, the infection was detected in the hen, ducks, and quail when the real-time PCR method was used at the Central Veterinary Disease Investigation Laboratory at Tripureshwor, Kathmandu on last Friday.
Earlier, it was detected in Surkhet, Jajarkot, and Tarkeshwor of Kathmandu.
Dr. Dhakal said the trained team had been mobilized to disinfect the areas to contain the further spread of the bird flu.
The team culled 516 ducks, 854 hens, 154 quails, 944 eggs, and 335 kg chicken feed in Nakkhu .
