Cabinet fixes wheat’s minimum support price at Rs. 3,111 per quintal

March 21, Kathmandu. The latest cabinet meeting has decided to form a representative team of Nepal under the leadership of Foreign Affairs Minster Pradeep Kumar Gyawali to virtually participate in the 17th Ministerial level meeting of BIMSTEC to be held on the  April 1.

Unveiling the latest cabinet decisions, Communications Minister Parbat Gurung informed that the cabinet  further decided to form a 6-member team under the leadership of National Planning Commission’s Vice-Chair Dr. Pushpa Raj Kandel to participate in the virtual program of the 8th United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific to be held on the March 23 to 26.

Likewise, Minister Gurung informed that the government decided to accept the government of Japan’s health equipments assistance worth 1 billion 80 million rupees to be used for cure and treatment of non-communicable diseases.

The meeting also decided to cent percent tax weaver for license renewal to hotels and restaurants between  March 22, 2020 and September 16, 2020, and 50% tax weaver between the September 17, 2020 and the February 12, 2021.

Likewise, the cabinet has decided to fix the minimum support price of wheat at 3 thousand one hundred and 11 rupees per quintal.

On the occasion, Minister Gurung informed that the Kathmandu denizens would be able to enjoy water from Melamchi project by the first week of April.

He also said one unit of Upper Tamakoshi Hydro electricity project producing 76 MW electricity would come into operation by mid May this year.

Touching the political issues, Minister Gurung said the government did not need to form a new coalition as the CPN Maoist center had not decided to pull their support.

Minister Gurung further say sif the opposition party forwards no-confidence motion, the CPN UML will enjoy staying at opposition, and go for election to get majority again.
