Last rites of former lawmaker Ranabhat performed
February 23, Chitwan: Final rites of former lawmaker Eknath Ranabhat have been performed at Devghat today.
Ranabhat of Ratnanagar municipality-14 of Chitwan district passed away in course of treatment at Chitwan Medical College on Monday. He was 69. Ranabhat had been hospitalized from February 8 after he suffered a stroke.
General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Dr Shashank Koirala, former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, NC’s leaders and cadres, leaders of different parties in the district including Nepal Communist Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party were present at Devghat.
Before this, the mortal remains of Ranabhat were kept at NC Party Office, Kamalnagar, for paying of last respects. He had been elected to the House of Representatives during the 2056 BS election from the Chitwan constituency 2.
Born on November 13, 1952, at Bhatkhola of Syangja, Ranabhat was the NC Chitwan former (district) secretary, former chair of the Landless Squatters’ Problems Solution Commission, Rupandehi, the National Cooperatives Board former vice-chair. He is survived by his spouse, a daughter and a son.
