188 arrested on general strike called by Prachanda-Nepal group

February 5, Kathmandu:Police have arrested altogether 188 people from different parts of the country on the charges of enforcing general strike and vandalizing the vehicles.

Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party had called for the general strike throughout the country on Thursday.

Spokesperson of the Nepal Police SSP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar informed that the  police released 40 people later after investigating  on the matter .

Police said the regular lives of the public in the Kathmandu Valley slightly seem to be affected by the general strike while the regular lives of the people outside of the Valley seemed unaffected.

The protesters had damaged altogether 86 vehicles throughout the country on Thursday.
