Martyrs’ struggle resulted in freedom of citizens: President Bhandari

January 29, Kathmandu: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has said that present exercise of rights and freedoms are the result of the sacrifices made by the Martyrs in the past.

Giving a message of best wishes on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day on Friday,President Bidya Devi Bhandari  said the programmes organized in honor of the Martyrs  played a significant role to make aware the new generation on sacrifices made by the martyrs.

President Bhandari reminded that Martyrs’ struggle and sacrifices resulted in freedom of citizens, establishment of democracy and protection of nationality.

The President paid tributes to the martyrs Sukraj Sashtri, Dasharath Chand, Dharmabhakta Mathema and Ganga Lal Shrestha.

The country has been observing the day in memory of Martyrs’ sacrifices which led to the abolishment of the autocratic Rana Regime.
