Indo-Nepal border issues will be resolved through talks : MoFA Gyawali

January 17, Kathmandu: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has said India is positive to resolve the disputes seen along the Indo-Nepal border.
Returning home on Saturday after participating in the sixth meeting of the Nepal India Joint Commission, Minster Gyawali said both Nepal and India were committed to solving the border disputes on time.
Talking to journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Minister Gyawali said during the sixth meeting of the Joint Commission, Nepal and India had agreed to exchange cooperation in solving border disputes, border security, fiscal assistance, trade and transit and energy and water resources sectors.
Minister Gyawali also said India had promised to keep Nepal in priority while distributing anti coronavirus vaccines.
The Joint Commission meeting is also reported to have directed concerned bodies to construct head regulator and canal link at Tanakpur barrage to bring water to Nepal from the Mahakali river for irrigation, as per the Mahakali treaty.
Before returning home, Minister Gyawali held a bilateral meeting with Defense Minister of India Rajnath Singh.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary at Foreign Affair Ministry Bharat Raj Paudyal and Nepali Ambassador to India Nilambar Acharya.
