Guideline prepared for making post-Covid tourism sector healthy and fair

January 15, Kathmandu: The Tourism Recovery Taskforce Nepal (TRTF-Nepal) with technical help of German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and in cooperation of Gates Foundation has prepared a health safety protocol guideline with an aim of making the tourism sector healthy, fair and strong, especially in the post- Covid-19 scenario.
The guideline was launched jointly by Dr Stephen Rozek, chief of development assistance department, German Embassy in Nepal and the TRTF-Nepal’s coordinator and former chief executive officer of the Nepal Tourism Board, Dipak Raj Joshi, at a virtual programme on Thursday.
Stating that ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has created economic crisis and affected tourism not only health, Dr Rozek said that the guideline would play an effective role in the revival of tourism sector adversly affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Similarly, coordinator Joshi said that 85 percent of the small and medium entrepreneurs had stressed on the need for training, education and awareness programmes for themselves according to a survey carried out amongst stakeholders of Nepal regarding Covid-19 impacts on tourism sector.
In the first phase, preparations were being initiated to launch a training session related to health security protocol as per the survey, he said.
