Nepal-India Joint Commission meeting today

January 14, Kathmandu: The sixth meeting of Nepal-India Joint Commission is going to take place in India’s capital New Delhi on Thursday.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali will leave for India at 11:45 on Thursday morning leading the Nepali delegation for the meeting.
Talking Radio Nepal Minister Gyawali said the agenda of border disputes, report of Eminent Persons’ Group, 1950 Treaty, trans-border connectivity, COVID-19 control among others would be discussed during the meeting.
Talking to Chief Report of Radio Nepal Pramod Dahal on Wednesday, Minister Gyawali said a serious discussion would be held over the issuance of a revised map of Nepal incorporating Nepali lands- Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura endorsed by the Federal Parliament.
He added that the discussion would focus on resolving the border disputes between the two countries, rather than escalating them.
Foreign Affairs Minister Gyawali further informed that discussions would also be held on procuring anti-covid 19 vaccines from India.
Clearing the doubt regarding Nepal’s position in the meeting, Minister Gyawali assured that Nepal’s position would not be weakened by the domestic political tension.
While in New Delhi, the Minister will also hold meetings with high-level Indian dignitaries.
Minister Gyanwali is scheduled to return home on the January 16.
