January 12, Kathmandu: The American Ambassador to Nepal, Randy W. Berry, has expressed his concern regarding the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

Issuing a statement on Monday, Ambassador Berry said that he was shocked and saddened by the assault on the 117th U.S. Congress, which was summoned “to carry out its constitutional duty to certify the results of our presidential election.”

Saying that peaceful transfer to power and peaceful dissent was the hallmark of a democracy, American envoy Berry said lawlessness, violence, and intimidation towards political rivals were unacceptable and contrary to American democratic values and founding principles.

Ambassador Berry also expressed grief over the loss of lives in the incident and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
