Corona Virus affects development works in Province 1

January 5, Ilam: The spread of coronavirus infection has badly impacted the development works and agriculture sector in many districts of Province No. 1.

Many development projects are in limbo, as the local government has adopted the policy to spend in prevention and control of coronavirus reducing the development budget.

Crop Conservation Officer at Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Ilam, Hemraj Panta has said the Province Government has frozen 20 per cent budget in the second phase after 30 per cent in the first phase.

The Province Government has allocated 6 hundred 4.4 million Rupees for the Centre in the current fiscal year. Last week, the Centre received permission to spend only 50 per cent of its budget.

Panta shared most of the programmes for commercial and cash crops had been curtailed in Ilam.

Likewise, the Urban Development and Building Office Division, Ilam, has also got approval to spend just 50 per cent of its budget from the Province Government.
