Foundation laid for Basic Hospital in 396 local units

Kathmandu- The Government of Nepal (GoN) has initiated building basic a hospital each in 396 local units and infectious disease control hospitals in all 7 provinces to ensure basic and quality health services to all the public.

In this regards, the foundation stones were laid for the building the hospitals on Monday.

The GoN in its policies and programmes for the current fiscal year 2020/21 had envisaged that it would build 5 to 15-bed basic hospitals in all the local units across Nepal, and infectious disease control hospital in all seven provinces.

Of the 753 local units in the country, 649 local units did not have hospitals at all.

32 basic hospitals would be built in Province 1, 20 in Province  2, 19 in the Bagmati Province, 53 in Gandaki Province, 60 in Lumbini Province, 28 in Karnali Province and 34 in Farwestern Province.

Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has shared that those local units which could not lay the foundation stone for the basic hospitals on Monday would also begin the construction process within this fiscal year.

The GoN has allocated 80 million Rupees for building a 5-bed hospital, 110 million rupees for a 10-bed hospital, and 180 million rupees for a 15-bed hospital.
