Prime Minister Oli addresses the SDG 2020 under UNGA

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday addressed the Sustainable Development Goals Moment 2020.

The Sustainable Development Goals Moment 2020 is a high-level event convened by the UN Secretary-General on the margins of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

In his address, PM Oli expressed concern that the pandemic had threatened the hard-earned development gains particularly for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing countries.

PM K.P Sharma Oli further said the downgrading economy, shrinking revenue, increasing public expenditure, and rising poverty and unemployment had severe impacts on these countries’ efforts to realize the Sustainable Development Goals.

PM Oli further said the sustainable development was at the centre of Nepal’s development vision and it was underpinned the national aspiration of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalese’.

The PM also informed the forum about Nepal’s achievements in key areas including poverty reduction, food security, education, gender equality, basic sanitation, and energy access.

PM Oli also said it was time to move beyond rhetoric and accelerate actions at all levels in order to recover and rebuild a better future leaving none behind.
