The UK to give 7.15 billion rupees to Nepal to battle COVID-19 pandemic

Kathmandu: The United Kingdom is providing 45.8 million sterling Pound grant to Nepal to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the virtual dialogue held between Finance Minister Dr Yuva Raj Khatiwad and State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom Lord Ahmed on Thursday, the United Kingdom declared the grant that equals to almost 7 billion 159 million Nepalese rupees.

During the video conference, Finance Minister Dr Khatiwada highlighted Nepal’s development efforts, fiscal condition, and investment environment.

Meantime, Finance Minister Dr Khatiwada informed the British delegates that discussion on the threshold changes in Foreign Investment has been forwarded.

He also said the process to end double taxation process with Britain had been forwarded and laws have been amended to attract foreign investment in the Private Public partnership via Investment board.

Taking part in the meeting British State Minister Ahmed said Britain was willing to work together with Nepal in the sectors of economic development, foreign investment and climate change.
