Speaker’s election on 26 January

Election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives has been scheduled for January 26.

The senior-most member at the House of Representative Mahantha Thakur chaired the second session of the house meeting on Monday, where he directed the General Secretary of Federal Parliament Secretariat Manohar Prasad Bhattarai to make necessary preparations for the speaker’s election.

Earlier, the house session chair Thakur read out the resignation letter of deputy speaker Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe in the meeting.

According to the election schedule, the filing of nominations to the post of the speaker will begin at 11:00 am and will conclude at 2:00 pm Monday. The final list of the candidates will be published at 2:30 Monday itself.
