Minister Paudel stresses use of electric vehicles

Kathmandu: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel has spoken of the need to increase the use of electric vehicles (EVs) to reduce air pollution.

At an interaction organized in Kathmandu on Friday on the EV, Minister Paudel also underscored the use of EVs, stating the skyrocketing price of petrol had led Nepal to spend a hefty amount of currency annually and that rising global consumption of petroleum products had led to the risk of depletion of such natural resources.

The Education, Science and Technology Minister stressed green development by mitigating negative impacts caused by petroleum products-fueled transport sectors on the environment and the country’s economy as the country annually spends a huge chunk of money on the import of fossil fuels.

Stating that his ministry was supportive of research, the Minister expressed his concern over increasing air pollution and urged the researchers to conduct research on the ways of reducing the environmental pollution.
