Home Minister Khand directs authorities to forward plans to mitigate fire related incidents in dry season

Kathmandu: Home Minister Bala Krisna Khand has directed the security agencies and stakeholders to forward effective plans to mitigate the incidents of fires during the dry season.
Speaking at a meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee held at the Home Ministry today, Home Minister Khand instructed the concerned bodies to prepare themselves to protect the forest, wildlife, and settlements from possible incidents of fire.
The Home Minister also stressed the need for coordination among all agencies of the government to safeguard the lives and properties of people during natural disasters.
Also speaking at the meeting, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Rajendra Prasad Shrestha said local levels’ capacity should be enhanced for the effective tasks of disaster risk reduction, relief distribution and resettlement.
Likewise, Urban Development Minister Ram Kumari Jhakri suggested the government bring agriculture and livestock insurance schemes in a bid to lessen the impacts of disasters.
