Election Commission provides political parties election symbols for by-election
April 29, Kathmandu: The Election Commission has registered five political parties and provided them the election symbols for the by-election set for May 20.
The commission is conducting the by-election in Bagmati Province to fulfill the one vacant post in the National Assembly.
Commission Spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha informed that Sun was given to CPN UML as its symbol, tree to Nepali Congress, Sickle and hammer in a circle to CPN Maoist Centre, Plough to Ratriya Prajatantra Party, and Madal to Nepal Workers and Peasants Party.
The commission has also approved the voters’ list including 384 representatives who could vote in the election. Spokesperson Shrestha said the voters’ list would be published at the Office of the Election Officer in Hetauda at 11 am on May 4.
Voters’ list could be corrected by 5 pm on the same day. If any eligible voters’ names were missing, they could apply for addition of their names, and if anyone one had objection against the voters mentioned on the list, could file complaints by 5 pm on the same day.
