Chinese Prez Xi reaffirms 2060 carbon-neutral vow at climate summit
April 23, Beijing: China’s President Xi Jinping, speaking Thursday at a global summit on climate change, reaffirmed the Asian giant’s vow to reach carbon neutrality by the year 2060.

China will “pursue a green and low carbon path to development” over the coming decades, including strict limits on the use of coal, and “looks forward to working with the international community, including the United States,” Xi told the summit.
It requires “extraordinarily hard efforts” for China to fulfil its commitment to moving from carbon peak to carbon neutrality, which is in a much shorter time span than what might take many developed countries”, Xi remarked.
Last year, Xi pledged that China will strive to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060. (AFP/Radio Nepal)
