Communication Minister Gurung suggests formulating strategic plan to keep Radio Nepal’s glory intact
April 2, Kathmandu: Radio Nepal has marked its 71st anniversary on Friday organizing various programmes. Radio Nepal was established in 2007 BS on Chaitra 20 after declaration of democracy in Nepal.
Addressing a programme organized at its central office at Sighadurbar, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Parbat Gurung emphasized on Radio Nepal formulating concrete strategies plans to keep its glory intact.
Applauding the roles played by Radio Nepal fin the process of democratization in Nepal, Minister Gurung said it should be developed a research institution.
He also informed that all the government mass media would be transformed into the public service broadcasting soon.
Similarly, Secretary at the Communication Ministry and Chairperson of Radio Broadcasting Service Development Committee, Hari Prasad Basyal appreciated Radio Nepal’s roles in enriching Nepal’s diversity and social harmony.
Stressing the need for enhancing employees’ capacity and skills, Secretary Basyal said Radio Nepal should work for its institutional development and service quality enhancement.
Also addressing the function, Executive Director of Radio Nepal Buddhi Bahadur KC has said Radio Nepal is expanding its service and reach all over the county.
Executive Director KC informed that Radio Nepal has focused on developing current affairs programs and improving broadcasting and managerial aspects strengthening its capacity.
On the occasion, senior singers and musicians Premdhoj Pradhan and Jiwan Sharma were honoured with appreciation letters and 51 thousand rupees for their contribution to music sector of Nepal.
Likewise, Radio Nepal’s employees who accomplished their 25 years of service in the organization were also honoured.
Radio Nepal’s employees Naya Raj Nepal, Gokarna Prasad Dhakal and Jagadish Shama were honoured as the best employees of the year.
