UNFPA with Chinese assistance provides medical equipment to Nepal

March 3, Kathmandu: The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with the financial support of China has provided medical equipment worth around Rs 30 million to the Ministry of Health and Population.
The equipment includes more than six thousand sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), 50 thousand pairs of medical gloves, 50 thousand pieces of surgical masks and 27 sets of Inter-Agency Reproductive Health kits (IARH).
The UNFPA said that equipment and kits would assist the government’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic while ensuring continuity of essential reproductive health and gender-based violence response services.
The PPE, IARH kits and other supplies worth approximately Rs 30 million were procured by UNFPA with the financial support of China under the existing south-south partnership initiative between Nepal, China and UNFPA.
The IARH kits are comprised of essential drugs, supplies and equipment that enable service providers to ensure safe deliveries and manage obstetric complications.
At an event organised at the ministry on Wednesday, the supplies were handed over to MoHP Chief Specialist Dr Roshan Pokhrel by UNFPA.
