Consignment of 1 million does of anti-covid-19 vaccines provided by India in aid arrives in Kathmandu

January 21, Kathmandu: One million doses of anit-covid-19 vaccines have arrived in Nepal from India.

The vaccines provided by India as grant assistance were brought by Air India flight this afternoon.

Ambassador of India to Nepal, Vinay Mohan Kwatra handed over the consignment of vaccines called ‘Covishield’ to Minister for Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi at the Tribhuvan International Airport.

On the occasion, Minister Tripathi thanked the Government of India for providing the vaccine in aid. He also confirmed that the vaccine would be rolled out with in a week hence.

Also speaking on the occasion, Indian Envoy to Nepal Binaya Mohan Kwatra said India has kept its neighbours in the top priority while delivering vaccine doses.

The newly arrived vaccines will be stored in the Central Storage at the Department of Health Services at Teku.  Health workers, security personnel, sanitation workers and people managing dead bodies will be the first to revive the jab.
